2022 Mazda CX-30 Specs, Price, MPG & Features

The 2022 CX-30, which resembles a bigger, more robust Mazda 3 hatchback, sits among the CX-5 and CX-50 in the brand’s compact SUV range. The CX-30’s curving external design and near-premium cabin give it an upscale look that rivals small luxury crossovers like the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1. The base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with sluggish acceleration; hot-shoe drivers will prefer the optional turbocharged 2.5-liter. The CX-30’s handling is nimble, and its on-road attitude is reminiscent of Mazda’s sportier options. A big amount of infotainment and driver-assistance systems is standard, as is all-wheel drive beginning this year.

Engine and Transmission

The CX-30 comes equipped with a four-cylinder engine that has a capacity of 2.5 litres and produces 186 horsepower. This engine is mated to a six-speed automated transmission that makes gear selections intelligently based on the circumstances of the road. An optional engine with a displacement of 2.5 litres and a turbocharger delivers 250 horsepower. Its sharp steering and fluid body motions make it a joy to drive on winding roads, and also give it a sense of stability while it’s being driven at higher speeds. In the test, it took the CX-30 8.1 seconds to get from 0 to 60 miles per hour, which is a slower time than competitors like the turbocharged Kona but a significantly faster time than comparable SUVs that are not turbocharged. When equipped with the optional turbocharged engine, the CX-30 had acceleration times that were noticeably quicker and had a zero to sixty mile per hour time of 5.8 seconds.

Interior and Comfort

The Mazda 3 serves as the inspiration for the interior design of the 2022 CX-30, which results in a stylish and well made cabin. An information display protrudes from the middle of the dashboard and is operated by a rotary knob located on the centre console. The top and lower dash panels are separated by a row of buttons that regulate the temperature and the ventilation system. Customers have the option of purchasing between an eight- or a 12-speaker audio system, and they may also upgrade to heated front seats if they so want.

Leather upholstery, a power-operated rear liftgate, and other luxury amenities are added to the CX-30 when the top-tier Premium trim level is selected. These additions place the CX-30 in competition with the offers of luxury-brand vehicles like the Lexus UX and the Mini Countryman. In terms of its capacity to transport goods, the CX-30 is not the most spacious SUV that money can buy; yet, the vehicle was able to accommodate six carry-on suitcases behind the back seats and a total of 16 when the rear seats were folded down.
